17 Perkins Street, Alexandra
Less than two years ago we downsized from a farm garden to an urban plot.
Our new garden, which runs down to the UT Creek, was already established with numerous roses, camellias, crepe myrtles and bulbs. Most of this was preserved during and following the renovation and extension of the house.
This is a challenging block as most of the garden is in full sun all day during the summer and much of it is shaded during the winter, however the soil is good and we are on town water.
Over the past 18 months we have started to put our own stamp on the place, planting maples, ash, white cedar and natives to provide much needed shade, adding a number of flower and veggie beds and taming the land down to the creek.
From the street the garden appears quite unremarkable but the garden at the back is quite a ‘surprise package’.
We hope you enjoy your visit as we enjoy living here.
