The Heatherly Garden has been in the Leckey family for over 40 years.  Initially a small garden close to the house, the fences have been moved out with careful consideration given to planting of deciduous trees whilst still ensuring the Acheron Valley is still very much apart of the garden vistas.  Most recent developments include a canter levered deck over the dam and lawned area including fire pit overlooking the Cathedral Range.

Heatherly is nestled into the Acheron Valley with beautiful vistas encompassing surrounding paddocks.  North facing perennial beds include salvias, heritage roses and sedums.  To the south hydrangeas, camelias and arthropodiums flourish.  Established trees include Oaks, Maples, Golden Ash and Meta Sequoia with a stunning meadow valley of snow drops planted out to the dam inspired by English meadows.    A formal herb garden close to the house and a row of silver pear trees underplanted with camelia sinensis adds some formality to this large country garden.  Timber supports for rambling roses and a sculpted water feature using discs from an old country plough fits beautifully with the farming story and the surrounding landscape.

Additional Attractions:

The Alexandra & District Open Gardens Weekend has been running since 1990 and these are some of the best reasons to consider coming up to Alexandra and the district this October.
