Alexandra & District Open Gardens committee is very proud to be supporting and empowering our next generation of gardeners through the Alexandra Sprouts Club with a $1,000 donation in 2025.
This club is an after-school program full of gardening activities to help children learn about caring for a veggie patch, getting their hands dirty planting, growing, harvesting and cooking from the garden!
The club has proved to be so popular that this year, Lucy Collins, facilitator of Alexandra Sprouts Club has had to introduce two sessions each week during the warmer months for local little green thumbs.
The events are run at Embassy of Ideas and gives the young children ‘hands on’ experience with watching their hard work evolve from planting, right through to cooking from their abundant harvest.
Between 10.30am-1.30pm each day over the Open Garden weekend, Lucy and her helpers will be making seed ball/bomb making activity for some hands-on fun.
There will also be a fun photo board of all the fun activities the children have done throughout the year.
Come and see what our next wave of gardeners are achieving in this garden user friendly space.
