Marysville Garden Cottages and Scenic Marysville will be open with entry via the timber Lychgate on Lyell Street.

Garden Cottages garden was started 12 years ago. We had 3 remaining viable trees to start. A huge Liquidambar which had always been one of Anthonys favourite Marysville trees. Also, a lovely mature Dogwood and a mauve Rhododendron.

We added structure to the garden by way of trimmed Buxus hedges. Copious amounts of bulbs were rescued from the block before building and are now dotted throughout. Basically, a cottage styled garden filled with plants to add color throughout the very distinct seasons of Marysville, with a rustic, central water feature that has become a regular watering hole for the local bird life.

Adding to this is the garden at Scenic Marysville that is very new, and we are aiming to create a calm space to escape to from people’s busy lives. A chance to see a garden in its infant stages.

A post and rail fence provides structure, and a country feel. Hedges of Camellias, Magnolia ’Scented Pearl’ and Rhaphiolepis ‘Snow Maiden’ frame the site.

Marysville soil is a delight to work in (except after rain when the red clay sticks to everything it touches).The garden beds were treated with composted stable manure, gypsum to help break up the clay and lots of homemade compost.

Lovely areas to sit and ponder are located around different aspects of the garden for our guests. There are small pockets of private spaces also with earthy gravel paths.

A seasonal flower patch filled with Dahlias is a kaleidoscope of color in late Summer and autumn.

The garden is filled with plants treasures from friends gardens and is a constant reminder of those special people.
